Subject: Pastor’s Anniversary

There
is a third biblical
reason for showing appreciation to the pastor-teacher.
Thirdly,
We should express appreciation to the pastor-teacher
because of his…
III.
ADMONISHING MINISTRY IN THE WORD (1 Thess. 5:12d).
“…to
recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you.” What is the pastor’s ministry of admonishing?Instructing
in the truths of God’s Word.
What
should be the content of this instruction?
A.
Sound instructions
in doctrine
to all believers (Titus 2:1-8)
B.
Sound instructions
to the rich
(1 Tim.6:17-19).

the complete request. Notice 1 Thess. 5:12-13…
“And
we request or urge or beseech you, brethren, to
know or recognize or appreciate those who labor
among you, and are over you in the Lord and
admonish you, and to esteem them
very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be
at peace among yourselves.” Notice…
The
sequence: “recognize them, esteem them,
and submit to them.” Vs. 13, says to the flock…
you are “to esteem them.” In other words, in addition
to knowing your pastor, you are to think rightly and
lovingly of him, not because of his charm or personality,
but because of the fact that a pastor-teacher works
for the Chief Shepherd as His special servant. The
church is also “to submit” to the pastor-teacher’s
leadership so that “peace” prevails in the church.
Thus, the admonition,“Be at peace among yourselves.”
